Still Walking was shot in a single day, built from the strange observations and private ramblings found in Lorenzo Ocon’s personal diary.
The film treated those thoughts with far more gravity than they probably deserved. Visually, Daryl drew from the stark, minimalist mood of Lorde’s “Royals” video, giving Danny’s wandering interior monologue a quiet, brooding backdrop of empty spaces, long pauses, and carefully composed frames.
Near the climax, Danny stands on a bridge at the edge of existential collapse. As Lorenzo reaches the emotional peak of the scene, a bolt of lightning flashes in the distance, perfectly framed and almost impossibly well timed. Nobody planned it. Nobody could have. For one brief moment, it looked as if God Himself had decided the scene needed a little production value. And frankly, He nailed the cue.
